The Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) has submitted a proposal to the Centre, asking for a budget of Rs 45 lakh for setting up 150 street light poles along the area from the statue of Maharana Pratap to Song river before the Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrives in the city to inaugurate the investors’ summit on October 8.
A civic body officer said that on the receipt of the funds, they would start the work and the street light poles would be installed much before the PM arrives to inaugurate the mega event.
As per the MCD officers, the proposal submitted to the Centre stated that they need two transformers, 150 street light poles and 150 lED lights. The total budget which MCD has been seeking approval for is pegged at around Rs 45 lakh. “The area of the city from the place where stands the statue of Maharana Pratap statue to Song river would be covered under the proposed project,” a civic body officer said.
“The proposal was sent early this month and we hope that the approval order would come soon. Once the funds are released, we would plunge into work so that things are completed much before the PM arrives in the city in October,” the officer added.
