The councillors at Municipal Corporation of Dehradun seem to be losing hope of getting any work done by the MCD administration on the proposed development works in their wards.

leader of Opposition at MCD, Neenu Sehgal, said that the councillors are not being provided any financial support by MCD officials, which is delaying execution of development works in their wards.

Earlier in this board meeting it was finalised that the councillors would be given around Rs 15 lakh budget in order to ensure proper development work in their ward but this decision is not being implemented, he said.

"The approvals were given only on papers and nothing has been done practically yet. The councillors have stated their problems several times to the Mayor and MNA but to no avail. The DVWM is not working efficiently to maintain sanitation in town so we want the MCD to handover the sanitation responsibility of atleast 25-30 wards to the Congress councillors," he said.

Meanwhile, Dehradun Mayor Vinod Chamoli acknowledged that the Board had decided to provide around Rs 15 lakh to each ward for the development work.

The funds will be provided after the due process is completed, he added. BJP councillor Bhupendra Kathait said that the councillors are not given any fund to ensure proper development works in their wards.

Referring to economic crisis in the MCD he added that the corporation is not getting any additional funds from the State Government and this time MCD has also not received any financial help from the relief fund of the district magistrate.

Blaming the MCD officials for their apathy, he said that they are not concerned about the development works of the city.Echoing similar sentiments another BJP councillor, Saroj Pawar said that the sanitation condition in her ward is deteriorating day by day.

She complained that the garbage is not being picked up from the wards on regular basis. The roads are also badly damaged in her ward but the MCD officials are not bothered about it.

She further said that the MCD officials are only busy in beautification project of the city and not concerned about the development issues of the local wards of the city.

Neeraj Sethi, a BJP councillor, said that they are not given any budget. He added that around 40 per cent garbage is not being picked from most wards regularly.
