The role of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev was of paramount importance in freedom struggle of India. The martyrdom of these freedom fighters inculcated spirit of revolution in the youths, said the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Trivendra Singh Rawat while addressing a programme organised by Veer Sawarkar Yuva Sangathan at Gandhi Park on Thursday.
The programme was organised to mark 86th death anniversaries of Bhagat Singh, Sukhdev and Rajguru. The CM paid floral tributes to the martyrs on the occasion.
He said the 300 year time period was not a time of slavery but a time of freedom struggle. Rawat reminded that the revolution of 1857 was actually first freedom struggle.
He called upon the youths to always remember the martyrs who laid down their lives for the cause of the country.
The organisers lighted 2100 lamps on the occasion as a mark of respect for
the martyrs.
