The maximum temperature soaring up, several localities have been reeling under long spells of power cuts for the past few days. Water supply was disrupted too, compounding the miseries of the people.

In view of the erratic power supply adding to the people’s summer woes, the Uttarakhand Power Corporation limited managing director SS Yadav inspected power lines at Pathriya Peer where 33 KV line had broken down. He also inspected 132 KV sub-station, Purukul.

Yadav directed the power officers to install transformer of 40 MVA at 132 KV Purukul to ensure smooth supply of power in several areas of Dehradun. UPCl (operation) Atul Aggarwal, chief engineer (Garhwal zone), Sanjay Tamta and some others were present on the occasion.

However, UPCl spokesperson Madhusudan said that no power- cut has been reported from any parts of the state till 4 pm on Thursday. Things have remained extremely trying for the people bearing the brunt of the searing summer heat. At Mohit Nagar, Ballupur, the residents grappled with power- cuts for around six hours around noon on Tuesday. The same repeated there on Wednesday evening. Besides, erratic power supply was reported from several other areas like Raipur and Rajpur. Swati, resident of Mohit Nagar, Ballupur, said that they had bearing the brunt of the summer heat and power-cuts at the same time. “Things are horrible,” she said.
