The Pradesh Mahila Congress will galvanise women in Uttarakhand to boost its membership while also raise public awareness on effects of policies of the Central Government compared to the works undertaken by the State Government. After chairing a meet with Mahila Congress office bearers, Brar informed the media that the Mahila Congress is presently undertaking an exercise to form its State execute and also focusing on the 2017 Assembly elections. She said, “We want to maximize our membership and make it more active. The Mahila Congress will raise public awareness on the flawed policies of the BJP led NDA Government at the Centre that have resulted in price rise of essential commodities. Promises made by prime minister Narendra Modi during the election campaign have turned out to be false. We will compare the work done by the Central Government with the works done by the Congress led State Government to elicit support for the Congress in the 2017 Assembly polls,” she added.

When asked about perception of inadequate presence of women in the State cabinet which has only one lady cabinet minister, Brar said that it is proportionately sound considering the size of the cabinet though she would raise the issue with the chief minister. The Pradesh Mahila Congress president and MlA Sarita Arya was also present in the Press conference.
