There is an urgent need to inculcate patriotic fervour among the youth and Maharana Pratap is best suited icon for imbibing love for motherland, said the President of Maharana Pratap Vichar Mach (MPVM), Ratan Singh Chauhan, while addressing mediapersons here on Saturday. He said that the recent statements issued by JNU President Kanahiya Kumar come under the category of the anti nationalism and stern action should be taken against him.
Singh informed that the 477 birth anniversary of Maharana Pratap would be celebrated on May 8 (Sunday) at Jai Prakash Garden located at transport Nagar in which the BJP state in charge Shyam Jaju would be the chief guest.
The State BJP chief, Ajay Bhatt and former Chief Minister of Uttarakhand Ramesh Pokhariyal ‘Nishank’ would also be present in the anniversary celebration of Maharana Pratap.
The MPVM raised the demand of setting up a majestic idol of Maharana Pratap at Inter State Bus Terminus (ISBT), Dehradun. Singh recalled that the former Chief Minister Narayan Dut Tiwari had declared that an idol of Pratap would be installed at ISBT but the declaration is yet to see the light of the day.
He said that a delegation met the Governor of Uttarakhand on May 6 and demanded that the idol of great warrior should be installed at ISBT. Singh said that an agitation would be launched if this long standing demand is not accepted soon.
