The reduced power generation from the hydro power stations and steep decline in the availability from the central pool compounded the problem of power availability in the State.

Similarly the towns of Garhwal and Kumaon faced a cut of 2 hours and the people of mountainous areas faced an outage of 1 hour on Wednesday. The state received 8.50 MU of power on Wednesday against the allotted 16 MUs from the central pool escalating the power problem. The UPCl would undertake lopping chopping work on the 11 KV Ghanta Ghar feeder on Thursday due to which Rajpur road, Ghanta Ghar, Paltan Bazar and Onkar road areas  would face outage from 7 am to 11 am.
