The Minister of State for cooperative, dairy development and higher education Dhan Singh Rawat said that the State Government would select 30 places where loan fairs for farmers would be organised. He was undertaking review of the farmers’ welfare schemes at his office in the Vidhan Sabha on Monday. He said that a loan of Rs 1 lakh each at an interest of 2 percent to every farmer would be provided during these fairs.
The Minister sought details about the work initiated by the farmers who had already taken benefit of loan under the scheme.
An estimated three lakh farmers have so far have taken loan under the scheme. It was disclosed during the meeting that the dairy development department would enter into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the government of India to open petrol pumps in Srinagar, Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Rudrapur and some others.
