list of teachers in need of transfer ready

PNS

Taking a humane approach, the State Education Department (SED) has prepared a transfer list of 202 teachers who are either suffering from some serious ailment or their children are affected by some severe disease. These teachers would be posted in the schools located in accessible areas after a process of counseling.

The department has finalized the list of 117 primary teachers and 85 teachers of secondary schools which would be transferred to the schools of their choice under the section 29 (2) of teachers transfer policy.

The department has sent the list for approval from the state government.

The Department has taken this step on the initiative of the Secretary, School education, D Senthil Pandian. He said that the list was prepared after thoroughly examining the requests of the teachers who are suffering from some serious illness or their children are affected by these diseases.

He added that the transfers were based on the recommendation of state medical board. Under section 29 (2) of Transfer policy of teachers transfers in 3 percent of posts could be done for providing relief to teachers suffering from 14 types of serious ailments.

It is worth mentioning here that this clause of transfers was blatantly misused in the past.

A common complaint was that some teachers with political backing in collusion with some officials of the department were able to get them transferred under this clause while the genuine candidates in absence of political patronage were left in lurch.
