Winter slowly setting in Uttarakhand, the meteorological department has forecast light snowfall in the higher reaches of the state on Tuesday. As per the weather department forecast, it might snow or rain in the higher reaches of Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Pithoragarh districts on the day. Snowfall is likely to occur at places with height 4000 m and above, the Met officers said and added that the climate in the rest of the state would remain dry on Tuesday.
In Dehradun too, the climate would remain dry though the sky would remain partly cloudy on Tuesday. The maximum and the minimum temperatures are likely to be in the neighbourhood of 31 degree and 16 degree Celsius on the day in the city. On Monday, the minimum temperature of the city settled at 15 degree Celsius-one notch below the normal- while the maximum was 31.7 degree Celsius, two notches above the normal. While in Mukteshwar, the minimum temperature dipped to 9 degree Celsius it was 11 degree Celsius in New Tehri on Monday.
The weather officials said that the mercury would now keep dipping slowly in Dehradun though the real winter chill is still far-off.
Though it is a tad hot during the day time the climate is becoming pleasant after the evening sets in, say the residents. During the night hours, the climate is turning a little cold, they add.
