The people living in various parts of Uttarakhand may get respite from the scorching heat in the coming days. Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre has forecast light rainfall at isolated places from Tuesday evening onwards. Moreover, Met office has also forecast moderate rainfall on June 13 and 14 at many places in the State. The spells of western disturbance-spawned rain would continue for a few days which would result in mitigating the searing heat the people have been suffering from for the past two /three weeks, Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre predicted.

However, State Meteorological Centre Director Anand Sharma dislcosed that they were still not in a position to say anything about the tentative time the monsoon would finally set in the State. The officials were monitoring developments and monsoon was most likely to arrive in Uttarakhand in the last week of June, he said. Meanwhile, the soaring mercury for the past few days has affected normal life in various places across Dehradun district. Traffic thinned with the people choosing to stay indoors on Monday.

However, as summer vacation is on the students are being spared the blistering heat. Meanwhile, tourists in their hordes from various parts of the country are now thronging several hill stations located in the state like Mussoorie to beat the heat. While it is insufferably hot in Dehradun, it is cool in Mussoorie even during the day time. “We are delighted, finding things so cool here,” said Pankaj, a tourist from Delhi while wandering along the Mall in Mussoorie on Sunday.

Sharma said that the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 39.8 degree Celsius and 23.1 degree Celsius, respectively in Dehradun on Monday. The weather forecast for Dehradun on Tuesday is mainly clear sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 40 degree Celsius and 24 degree Celsius, respectively on Tuesday. The weather forecast for Uttarakhand on Tuesday is mainly clear to generally cloudy sky. Very light rain/thunderstorm could occur at isolated places (02% area) in Uttarkashi and Chamoli districts and dry weather in rest of Uttarakhand.
