The Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rain/ snow at higher reaches (above 2500 metres) in four districts- Uttarakshi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli and Pithoragarh. Very light to light rainfall has been forecast in the remaining districts of the State. The Met office has issued warning as hail is likely to occur at districts like Dehradun, Tehri and Haridwar during next 24 hours starting from Thursday morning. The spell might continue on Friday too. However, things would turn dry from Saturday onwards.

The maximum temperature is expected to dip by four or five degree Celsius across the State under the impact of the rainy/snowy spell. However, minimum temperatures would gain by three or four degree Celsius. The Met director Bikram Singh has attributed this to  a  fresh bout of western disturbances that are forming presently. Things would be a tad colder in the coming two days as the gap between the maximum and minimum temperature would narrow down, Singh said.

Dehradun witnessed a sunny day since the morning on Wednesday.  The minimum temperature was recorded two degree Celsius above the normal. The weather forecast for Dehradun on Thursday is partly to generally cloudy sky. Thunder cloud development/light rain is likely to occur at many places. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 18ºC and 11 ºC respectively in Dehradun on Thursday. Singh further informed that the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded at 25.0ºC and 9.0ºC in Dehradun while it was 14.8ºC and 4.6ºC in Tehri, 14.5ºC and 4.1ºC in Mukteshwar and 25.1ºC and 6.0ºC in Pantnagar on Wednesday. Snowfall might  elude Nainital and Mussoorie this time too as it might occur at places above 2500 metres.  However, Surkanda located above 2500 metres near Dhanaulti might receive snowfall on Thursday, Singh said.

The weather forecast for Uttarakhand on Thursday is light to moderate rain/snow at many places in Uttarkashi, Pithoragarh, Chamoli and Rudraprayag.

Very light to light rain/snow is expected to occur at a few places in the rest of   the State, Singh said.
