Lekhpals struggle to clear backlog in Tehsil

PNS

As the members of Uttarakhand Lekhpal Sangh (ULS) undertook a six-day protest which ended on June 15, the two-hour work boycott during the protest has led to increased pressure to address the backlog in the Tehsil.

The ULS general secretary Radheshyam Painuly said, “These days a majority of rush in Tehsil is of people coming for registration for pensions. The rush has been more for us so we are facing difficulty in handling these many people at the same time. We also have to work in the field as well.

This is the reason people have to go back without the completion of their work sometimes.”

Explaining the backlog in the Tehsil, Painuly said, “It is true that the backlog work is pending but we are working so that the work can be completed soon.” It is pertinent to mention that nearly 2000 employees boycotted work for two hours daily across the state during the protest which caused a major inconvenience for the citizens.

ULS members protested to oppose the cabinet sub-committee decision of determining six per cent quota for promotion to senior positions like Nayab Tehsildar to Sangrah Amins (bailiffs).
