The old bus stand on Gandhi Road was allotted to GTM Builders for building a mall. Ironically the land was earlier identified for the construction of multilevel parking to make road free from unauthorised parking and to ease the traffic around Tehsil and district court but Government decided to give the land to the GTM.
It is also matter of investigation as to how the land was allotted to the GTM because it was meant for multilevel parking. Sources said the land was allotted by a bureaucrat by overruling all the terms and condition. Now question is will Government reconsider the reason why such an anomaly was facilitatedIJ As per the norms, the Government can give such land through auction only. For this State will have to issue a tender notice and at least three bidder are required for auction.
In case bidder did not turn up then again state government is bound to re-issue the tender but such provision was not followed here. It may be another reason but it does not that anybody can trespass anyone property. GTM might have procured the piece of land by using wrong means but it does not mean any political party or person can vandalise their property.
