laid off contractual workers scale water tanks, get reinstated

PNS

It appears that the long drawn agitation of Contractual office/ laboratory assistants of Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), which included antics like scaling the overheard water tanks has met with success as the education department has asked the Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam limited (UPNl) to reinstate the services of 628 workers. In a letter directed to the General Manager (GM) of UPNl, the Additional Project Director RMSA, Sashi Chaudhary has asked to reinstate the services of remaining 628 workers earlier employed under HIlTRON. However on a cautious note the department has requested the UPNl to take necessary clearance from Police while appointing four members who scaled the overhead water tank. The decision of reinstatement was welcomed by the association of agitating RMSA workers.

It is worth mentioning here that the services of 1831 RMSA workers were terminated in the month of March this year after the union government stopped funding their salaries. After a long agitation the   education department renewed the contract of 1201 workers who were deployed under Uttarakhand Purva Sainik Kalyan Nigam limited (UPNl) but left out remaining 628 those who were employed under HIlTRON. These left out candidates again hit the path of agitation and amid high drama scaled the overhead water tank near education directorate in month of September.
