To make the Kumbh Mela of 2021 a historic occasion, the state government will be making a hi-tech command center in Haridwar. A common consent has been reached on the same by the state officials and this Integrated Command Control Centre (ICCC) will be the first of its kind wherein apart from crowd management, hi-tech gadgets shall be installed for traffic control and keeping an eye on suspects. Entire control on Kumbh Mela will be through this command center, said IG Kumbh mela Sanjay Gunjyal.

Taking a meeting in Mela control tower at Har Ki Paidi on Monday, IG Kumbh Mela Sanjay Gunjyal said that he had given this proposal to the state government which has been approved. He said his main focus would be on crowd management, adding that face detection technique which is used to catch criminals will also be used. Also, for traffic management, geo tracking technique shall be used.

He said that it was a big responsibility to manage Kumbh Mela which was assigned to him and he shall fulfill his duty with honesty. “It is a big challenge for me as during this fair where millions come uninvited and uninformed. I was given the responsibility of managing it considering my past experience of the Kumbh Mela held here in 2010. I shall be using my past experience to manage it in a better way,” said Gunjyal.

Answering to questions posed by media persons, the SSP Haridwar Janmejay Khanduri said that Kanwad Mela pilgrims shall be asked to follow Nehar Patri marg only. Also efforts shall be made that the locals should face minimal problems during the mela, added SSP.

It is pertinent to mention here that the State government is expecting about 15 crore people to visit Haridwar during the Kumbh Mela to be held here in 2021.
