The healthcare facility in the immediate vicinity of an Indian Railways traveller could be known with the help of a medical emergency App. The passenger-friendly App is launched by a technology start- up company, RailYatri.in.

To avail the facility the railway passengers should download this app in their mobile phones. The app considers location of the user and provides list of healthcare facilities at the upcoming stations. The information provided through the app is not just limited to hospital names but also provides direction of the nearest health facility from railway station, contact numbers of hospitals and ambulance services one might require during an emergency.

The traveller would have to just type the name of the station he or she is in and the app would instantly display name, distance and phone number of the of the nearby health centres. The user can also call an ambulance in case of an emergency to the station.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Co-founder of RailYatri.in. Manish Rathi said that App is especially important for senior citizens and people with history of some medical problem travelling alone.

“In India, senior citizens are quite reluctant to travel alone, only exception being holy pilgrimages where they are willing to take risks. With this feature travel app has taken a big stride forward towards eliminating the inherent fears for many train travellers,’’ he claimed.

Rathi added that keeping in view the troubled state of a user’s mind, in case of a medical emergency, the flow of the feature is kept really simple. To download the medical emergency App the user should visit website www.rytr.in.
