The BJP candidate for Garhwal lok Sabha constituency and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Maj Gen (retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri interacted with villagers after offering prayers at the Dadanagraja temple. He elicited the support of the public stating that only the BJP is capable of facilitating the required level of development in Uttarakhand and the nation.

Campaining in the constituency, Khanduri visited Dadanagraja, Baghanikhal, Badiyun, Bangghat, Bilkhet, Satpuli, Pattisain, Jwalpa, Patal, Pokhrekhet, Seeku, Uragi, Gandiyal and other places where he was welcomed by the local residents to the sound of traditional drums. The villagers informed Khanduri about the various problems they face like inadequate medical facilities, lack of proper education facilities and problems in lPG cylinder supply among other issues.

Stating that development in Uttarakhand should be according to the tradition and culture of the State, Khanduri said that the BJP-led State Government had worked to facilitate speedy development and focused on developing a corruption-free State.

During her tenure as the Chief Minister, the State Government had accorded priority to development in rural areas. A fair and transparent procedure for appointments to Government jobs had been put in place and those appearing in competitive examinations were given the facility of procuring a copy of their answer sheet to assess their marks. However, the Congress-led State government removed this system, he said, while adding that he will remain committed to facilitating the desired level of development in the constituency.

Along with the villagers, the ex-servicemen fraternity also welcomed the BJP candidate in various places. Addressing them he said that the BJP Government had worked to facilitate the welfare of ex-servicemen but the Congress-led Government had tried to fool them.

Attacking the Congress Government and its policies, the former CM said that corruption was the only phenomenon which had registered a major increase under the Congress led UPA Government. The people of India, frustrated with the problems exacerbated by misgovernance of the Congress have decided to bring about a change through their votes, he said.

BJP district president Raj Kumar Pori, former MlA Brij Mohan Kotwal and party workers also accompanied Khanduri in his campaign.
