In connection with the case registered against IPS Kewal Khurana for reducing the sections of IPC as regards the fire that occurred at Nagla Salaru village in 2012 to benefit the accused, Khurana has hinted that he might move the High Court.
He alleged that a conspiracy had been hatched against him regarding the case. At least 12 persons died in the fire that caught a factory in Haridwar.
He alleged that the case against him had been registered without seeking permission from the State administration and without conducting thorough investigation into the case.
He said that being SSP of Dehradun, he had been given additional charge of DIG. In June, 2013, investigation of the same case was transferred from Haridwar to Tehri. He said that had he intended to influence the investigation, he would have the case transferred to Dehardun. According to him, he had consulted his senior officers when the case had been transferred from Haridwar to Tehri.
Notably, on March 23, a case against Khurana and an investigation officer Rajeev Dandriyal was lodged under sections 166, 217 and 218 of the IPC in Mangalore police station, Haridwar.
