Protesting against erratic power supply and other pending demands like electrification of new areas and installation of new transformers in the rural parts of the district, Keshar Jan Kalyan Samiti staged demonstration against UPCl at the Collectorate on Wednesday.
The protesters were led by NK Gusain. They alleged that people of various areas like Nakraunda, Harrawala, Kuanwala, Mohkampur, Majramafi, Balawala, Bathuwala, Nawada and Haripur are suffering because of the erratic power supply. They said that their repeated meeting with the UPCl executive engineer (rural) and submission of memorandums have so far gone in vain.
They further alleged that the department officials neither receive the call nor address the problems. Gusain said that electricity lines should be laid in Valmiki Basti area at the earliest.
“Besides, the damaged electricity poles should be removed and new poles should be installed. Damaged transformers should be replaced too with new transformers,” he said, adding that they would intensify their protest in future unless their demands are met.
