With a report recently published in The Pioneer over the lackadaisical district administration not doing enough to keep things in order ahead of the Maha Shivratri festival and Kanwar Mela, SSP Haridwar, Sweety Agarwal held a meeting with the police officials concerned on Monday. She is said to have asked all zonal and sector officers to be more vigilant and visible till the Mela ends.
For the festival, additional police force with anti bomb squad and dog squad unit have been deployed at Bilkeshwar Mahadev, Daksh Temple, Neeleshwar Temple and at Jatashankar Mahadev Temple of the district. Till Monday, over 44 lakh kanwars have visited Haridwar over a period from February 2 to 16, an official said on Monday.
