The Jan Sangharsh Morcha has levelled serious allegations against Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, claiming that he used the money he had purportedly made in the Dhaincha seeds scam to purchase plots of land. The JSM head Raghunath Singh Negi said that the Morcha has submitted a communication regarding this to the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) and the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

Addressing the media persons here on Monday, Negi alleged, “With his ill-gotten gains from the Dhaincha seed scam of February 2010, Rawat purchased three plots of land (833 square metres) in the name of his wife Sunita Rawat in September 2010.He then bought two plots of land measuring about three bigha during July and November 2012. Apart from this, Rawat had also purchased a plot of land about four bigha in area during October 2010 in his own name. What is surprising is that all these plots of land were purchased for a total of Rs 28 lakh whereas the actual value of the lands in question is in crores of rupees.”

Negi further said, “Rawat had stated in his nomination papers that he was a social worker, adding that he had no major source of income apart from the MlA pension while his wife is a school teacher.

It is difficult to meet the expenses of a family with such limited money but in this duration, he has contested the Vidhan Sabha elections about five times for which large sums of money were spent. During 2007 his savings amounted to Rs 3.12 lakh which increased to about Rs 30 lakh in 2012 and during this period lands amounting to crores of rupees were also purchased. The JSM has written to the CAG and ED on this issue while the Election Commission of India has talked of a probe by the Income Tax department into the anomaly,” averred Negi.
