Maintaining its focus on alleged anomalies in the election nomination papers of Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat, the Jan Sangharsh Morcha (JSM) has once again requested the Election Commission of India to take necessary action in this case.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday, JSM chief and former BJP leader Raghunath Singh Negi said that on October 30, 2017 the JSM had lodged a complaint with the ECI regarding false information purportedly provided by Rawat in his nomination papers during the 2017 Vidhan Sabha elections. later on November 6 that year, a JSM delegation had met the ECI director general (Election Expenditure) Dilip Sharma and informed about the details of the case. Negi said,
“During the 2012 polls, Rawat had stated his age as 52 years in his nomination paper whereas his age was 51 years at that time.
Similarly he stated his age incorrectly in the nomination paper during 2014 and later in 2017 he stated his age as 54 years in the nomination paper when his age should have been 56 years.
Similarly, he did not mention the Dhaincha seeds scam in his nomination paper even though he had been named as one of the respondents in the matter of a public interest litigation filed in the Uttarakhand high court in this issue. Similarly, he also understated the value of five land plots in his wife’s name.
The ECI had forwarded our complaint on this issue to the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT).
