PNS

The dependents of army and para military personnel who die while on duty will be provided jobs according to their educational qualification by the State Government. This and various other public welfare announcements were made by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat at a Press conference held to mark the completion of six months by the present Government in office.

Addressing the media, Rawat said that the State Government has decided that the dependents of martyrs will be provided jobs in up to class- III category. He further informed that in order to improve the functioning of police stations in the State a miscellenious necessary works fund will be facilitated. At present a sum of Rs 3 crore has been allocated for this fund which would be increased as per the requirement and distributed among all the police stations in the State. The CM elaborated that there is no specific budgetary provision for conducting last rites of unclaimed dead bodies and other such tasks- many times the police personnel pay for such expenses from their own pockets. Additionally, the police do not receive any funds for travelling outside the district or State while pursuing a case. In such a situation, the provision of fund for such tasks is expected to bring about transparency and enhance efficiency in the police work. Now, the bereaved family of a police man who dies while on duty will be provided Rs 15 lakh instead of Rs 10 lakh in ex gratia.

Rawat further said that intensive care units will first be established in all the district hospitals and then all the joint hospitals in the State. The ICUs will be established in the 13 district hospitals in the first stage followed by establishment of the ICUs in 13 joint hospitals. This task is expected to be completed in about three months. Further, the state government has also prepared a plan for awarding government employees for good performance under the chief minister good governance award. Under this scheme, employees and officers at all levels in the government will be awarded for good work so as to also motivate them to perform better. Rawat went on to State that the State Government has also prepared a plan for making the urban areas of the State open defecation free (ODF) by March 31 next year. He also informed that noted actor Akshay Kumar has agreed to become the brand ambassador of the sanitation campaign in Uttarakhand, for which he will provide his services free of cost.

Akshay Kumar has also promised to visit Uttarakhand in the near future regarding this initiative, added the chief minister. On being asked about the inquiry into scam orchestrated in widening of national highway 74, the Chief Minister refrained from stating when the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will take over the probe but stated that the State Government had sent its recommendations in this regard. The special investigation team formed by the State is properly investigating into this scam, he added.
