Jaju downplays presence of disgruntled elements in BJP

Downplaying the possibility of the disgruntled elements within the party voting for any party other than the BJP in the poll, BJP’s national vice-president and Uttarakhand in-charge Shyam Jaju said on Tuesday that such  apprehension is misplaced, his party activists being  committed.

He said that the resentment coming out into the open after they were frustrated with the poll list was by no means an unusual thing. “Things happen, given the way human mind works. A bit of persuasion would help bringing them back to the party mainstream,” he said. He reiterated that the party had given tickets on the basis of survey conducted over months.

Asked about the banner of revolt raised by the former State BJP chief and Chaubattakhal MlA Teerath Singh Rawat on being made to make room for Satpal Maharaj who switched to the party from Congress in 2014, Jaju said that he being an old worker would soon be dissuaded from his rebellious spree.

He added that the popularity graph of the Congress is sharply coming to its nadir not just   in Uttarkhand but across the country. “This time, BJP is all set to secure a thumping two- third majority in Uttarakhand. Sure of our wins in most of the seats, we are now trying to increase the margins,” he said.

He said that the CM contesting from two seats laid bare their lack of confidence. “Besides, many other sitting MlAs of the party are fleeing from the constituencies they were elected from in the last election for new ones in a fit of panic,” the BJP leader said.
