Investors Summit-positive response, gaps in management

PNS

The Investors Summit held in Dehradun received an overwhelming response from investors and other interested parties. However, there were some gaps in the management of the event like the lack of adequate seating arrangement which left some of the delegates and officials without seats in the inaugural session.

About 1,600 delegates are said to have attended the Investors Summit. The good response received to the summit may have been one of the reasons why some delegates and even senior officials could not find seats in the inaugural session.

Initially even BJP MLAs were seen searching for a place to sit with most of them managing to later find space. However, not all could find seats. An announcement was made asking all BJP party workers to vacate seats for delegates who had not found a place to sit. Later, the session host also spoke of ‘Atithi Devo Bhava’ (guest is equivalent to god) and requested the locals to vacate seats for visiting delegates. Apart from this, the locker room set up for visitors to leave their bags lacked proper tokens.

Due to this, the staff there had to make do with numbers scribbled on pieces of paper torn from a notebook at the last minute. There was also some confusion regarding the security as those including some media persons with valid passes were not allowed to enter for sometime.

Before the start of the inaugural session, some of the delegates were turned back by the security as they had a valid pass but lacked an invitation card. Though some visitors were not happy with the confusion, an observer opined that some minor issues were bound to surface when an event of this magnitude is organised for the first time.
