Interim Budget a glimpse of new India: CM Rawat

PNS

Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has hailed the interim budget presented by the Narendra Modi government on Friday as an excellent one. “It caters to the aspirations of the farmers, middle class people and workers apart from being benevolent for the poor,” he said. He termed  the budget as a glimpse of new India.

Talking to the media persons at the state secretariat on Friday, CM said that the budget has given a direction to the dream of the  Prime Minister Narendra Modi to double the income of the farmers by 2022. “ About 12 crore families of  the farmers having less than two acres of land would get Rs 6000 per year into their bank accounts.

About 92 percent of the farmers of Uttarakhand would get covered under the scheme,’’ he said.

CM hailed the decision to exempt tax on the income up to Rs 5 lakh as the one which would prove beneficial for the middle class.

He claimed that now at 4.6 percent as contrasted with the 10.1 percent during UPA regime, the inflation is all time low.

Quizzed over the Congress president, Rahul Gandhi’s statement, terming  Rs 6000 per year as too little, Rawat said that everyone knows how much Rahul Gandhi  has about agriculture.

He said that the Union government has supported Uttarakhand in every field and it has provided a budget of Rs 3400 crore in the agriculture sector.

The state finance minister Prakash Pant also heaped praise on the budget and said that the Union government has focused on the sectors like agriculture and allied services, infrastructure and rural development in the interim budget. He said that a provision of Rs 8201 crore has been made for drinking water scheme in the budget.

Pant added that the budgetary allocations would help the Uttarakhand government to execute the schemes like National Rural Peyajal Mission, Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation, Namami Gange and National River Conservation in a proper manner.
