Taking note of the information Uttarakhand police received from its Jammu and Kashmir counterparts that the suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militant Danish Ahmed was given the task to ‘activate’ some local youths in North Kashmir to carry out terror strikes to make the region as much disturbed as south Kashmir, the intelligence and police are reviewing social networking sites. Around a dozen of youths from Kashmir, living in the state capital for studies and other purposes, are now on the radar of the intelligence sleuths. “Police and intelligence officials are trying to collect all the information related to Danish Ahmad and his friends,” said a senior police officer.
Notably, Danish had reportedly admitted after surrendering to police on Fridaylast during interrogation that he had been in constant touch with the Hizbul terrorists based in south Kashmir through the social media. It is learnt that he was first picked up by police in 2016 for his involvement in stone pelting. But he was let off after counselling in view of his educational career.
