Sonprayag police station in-charge inspector Ram Kumar Juyal died when the car he was driving fell off the road and fell into the Mandakani river near Kund in Rudraprayag district on Wednesday. The state director general of police MA Ganapathy expressed deep grief over the death of the police officer, calling the deceased as one endowed with exemplary dedication to his service.
Notably, he was deputed in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s security duty at Indian Military Academy (IMA), said Prahlad Singh Meena, the Rudraprayag superintendent of police. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and National Security Advisor Ajit Doval are scheduled to take part in the Commander’s Conference at Indian Military Academy (IMA) on January 21.
A police officer said that the accident occurred on Rudraprayag-Gaurikund highway at around 10.30 am. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) personnel reached the site and retrieved the body from the river with the help of the locals. later, the body was sent for post mortem examination. It would be handed over to the family members of the deceased on Thursday, said police. It is learnt that Juyal was driving to Dehradun regarding duty assigned to him during prime minister Narendra Modi’s Dehradun visit.
