Expressing profound grief over the death of an NSUI leader on Tuesday, State Finance Minister Indira Hridayesh urged the youth of the State not to take such extreme step as it affected family so deeply.
Rohit Pandey, an activist of the National Students’ Union of India, who got serious burnt injuries after a suicide attempt in Ramnagar on November 3, died during treatment in Delhi on Monday. While talking to The Pioneer, the Minister said that the incident showed short sightedness of the administration as there was report that the victim family was being harassed by the police.
Hridayesh also disclosed that she herself raised the matter before Chief Minister Harish Rawat and he even had assured that the matter would be resolved shortly.Getting emotional, Hridayesh further said that Anand Pande’s days began at the Congress office. Unfortunately he had lost his one son in road accident last year and now he lost his youngest son, who immolated himself as part of protest, in 2014 and she was not getting appropriate word to express her grief. The Minister said that the State Government had marked CB-CID enquiry so exact reason would reveal after a thorough investigation.
