Dehradun Police arrested Indira Colony ward councillor’s nephew Sinku, who had molested a girl while she was on way to appear in Uttarakhand Class XII board examination at Phoolchand Nari Shilp Inter College on March 11.
The offence was committed by two youth of the same locality. After the incident, the victim’s family deferred lodging a police complaint as they were being threatened by Sinku’s family members. Dhara Chowki in-charge MS Bisht said that based on the girl’s compliant an FIR has been lodged. Following the direction of SSP Kewal Khurana to nab the offenders on Tuesday, the 22-year-old Sinku was arrested by the police from his home. The accused had not disclosed the name of the other offender till the time of this report being filed.
According to Bisht, in her compliant, the victim said that she was going to the examination centre when she was molested by Sinku and his friend. The offenders ran away within a few minutes on seeing an approaching vehicle. The duo had been stalking her for the last many weeks.
She remained silent about this incident and disclosed it after her family members insisted. Bisht said that despite all this, she had attended her examination. The offender will be presented in the court on Wednesday.
