Garhwal MP and former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Major Gen. (retd) Bhuwan Chandra Khanduri has stressed on the need for increased public awareness in order to facilitate the desired level of development in Uttarakhand. Terming the performance of the BJP led NDA Government at the Centre as good, Khanduri said that India has emerged as a strong nation in the global community while countries with hostile intentions towards India are feeling discouraged.

Addressing a public gathering held in Khadi on Wednesday, Khanduri lambasted the Congress-led State Government, stating that law and order had almost collapsed in the State. He said that corruption was making life harder for citizens. The MP praised the Union Government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and said that it is working with honesty and is eliciting praise even from some opponents.

The residents of Khadi raised the demands for opening branches of a nationalised bank and a post office along with the establishment of a Sainik School in the area. The MP assured them of all possible effort from his side towards meeting these demands. Khanduri said that immediate action would be taken to resolve problems being faced by ex-servicemen. Earlier, Khanduri was welcomed by the locals to the beats of dhol and nagara. District Panchayat member Anil Bhandari, former MlA Om Gopal Rawat and others were among those present on the occasion.
