PNS

In a bid to promote dairy farming in State, Uttarakhand Government is going to give Rs 2 per litre as incentive to milk producers affiliated with the Dairy Cooperative Committees of the state. This was announced by the CM Bahuguna at a programme held in Raipur on the occasion of foundation laying for the reconstruction of the Dairy Plant of Aanchal Dairy on Tuesday.

The incentive would be provided to increase their production capacity. On increase in the production, further incentive would be provided next year.

CM Bahuguna and Dairy Development Minister Harish Chandra Durgapal laid the foundation stone for the dairy plant proposal to be built at a cost of Rs 7.20 crore.

CM reminded that apart from their contribution to the formation of the state, women also played a large part in the economy. Mostly women are involved in the Dairy Industry. If Uttarakhand was to be taken on the path of progress, women living in the rural and hill areas had to be made economically strong. In a highly competitive environment, cooperative dairies would need to adopt modern technology. There was much employment potential for the youth in dairy farming, floriculture, etc. It would prove successful if it worked enthusiastically in this direction.

Dairy Development Minister Durgapal said that milk producers would benefit from the expansion of

Aanchal Dairy.

There were more than 2 lakh milk producers in the state. There was much that needed to be done. Work was being done under various schemes of the National Agriculture Development Programme.

local MlA Umesh Sharma also addressed the gathering. A large number of persons associated with the Dairy Cooperative Committees were present on the occasion.
