CPU IMPOSES 80 CHAllANS IN ONE DAY

Dehradun: Following on the instruction of State Director General of Police BS Sidhu, who instructed the traffic police and City Patrol Units to penalise the polluting vehicle under Motor Vehicle Act 1988 and Central Motor Vehicles Rules 1989,  police and CPU conducted drives and imposed 80 challans on such vehicle users on Tuesday.  With the increase in number of vehicles on roads, there has been a rise in pollution level in the state capital. Considering this, the DGP has directed the traffic police and CPU to conduct joint campaign and impose challan on owners of vehicles found violating vehicular pollution norms. In the first phase, the campaign was launched on Dehradun-Mussoorie highway, Dehradun-Haridwar highway, Shimla bypass road and Dehradun-Saharanpur highway. Moreover, SP traffic Pradeep Rai and ARTO Sandeep Saini inspected two out of 11 agencies issuing pollution under control certificate and found several irregularities there. Notices were served to agencies by the officers.
