More rain/snow is in store for Uttarakhand as Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rain/snow at many places in Uttarakhand on January 6. However, dry weather would prevail in the state from three days from Tuesday. This aside, ground frost is likely to form at some places during the next 48 hours while fog would envelop some parts of the plains in morning/night hours during the same period. Dehradun, Tehri and Nainital recorded around 10 mm rainfall each on the evening of Sunday. While the minimum temperatures remained above normal in the plains they were below normal in the hills of the state.
The lowest minimum temperature 0.3°C was recorded in Mukteshwar. The weather forecast for Dehradun on Tuesday is clear to partly cloudy sky. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 22ºC and 07ºC respectively in Dehradun on Tuesday.
The meteorological centre director Bikram Singh attributed the rainy spell to the western disturbances. Another fresh western disturbance is in the offing as a trough is likely to affect western Himalayan region from January 6 onward, he added.
