Dogra Regiment constable Chandveer Singh, who was deployed at the Bhagat Singh gate in Indian Military Academy (IMA) committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle while on duty on Monday, said Cantt Police Station sub-inspector Manjul Rawat.
Hearing the gun shot, security forces of IMA rushed to the Bhagat Singh gate; they saw Chandveer was lying in pool of blood. Officials immediately took him to the military hospital where doctors declared him brought dead. later, the body was sent for post-mortem. According to Rawat, Muzaffarnagar resident Chanveer Singh, who was deployed at the Bhagat Singh gate recently and was 'mentally upset'. According to IMA sources, his tension was clearly visible on his face. It is not clear yet why he committed suicide. Rawat said that IMA would conduct an internal probe to find out the cause of his death.
