State Finance Minister and MlA from Haldwani, Indira Hridayesh has appealed to the parents to take care of their children when they go to attend public functions, adding that crime against children is an evil and it must be fought collectively.
The gruesome incident that happened with a seven- year- old girl here recently had alarmed all of us and made us think as to how to protect our children and how to stamp out such crimes with exemplary punishment being meted out to the accused, maintained the Minister.Since marriage functions nowadays continue till late night the parents should be alert about the protection of their children, she said.
At the same time, we have also asked the officials concerned of different public schools to raise awareness among the students on how to take care of themselves, particularly during public functions, picnics and the like, further said Hridayesh.More so, the Government has already directed the officials concerned of the district administrations and district police departments in the State to have CCTVs installed in and around the public functions, including marriage functions, and put in place necessary security arrangements to avert any untoward incident, added the Minister.
