A few right-wing outfits have come out to oppose Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) move to host a seminar under the banner of Muslim Rashtriya Manch, an abstentious initiative to reconcile the Muslim community people to the organisation that has been championing nationalism and Hindutva since it was founded in Nagpur in 1925. The hawkish elements of the larger Hindutva brigade said that they would resort to full-blown stirs to oppose the RSS move. Earlier, RSS declared that the Muslim volunteers across the country would participate in the two- day seminar starting on May 5 in Haridwar.
It is learnt from the RSS sources that seminar would be held at Nishkam Seva Trust Ashram in Bhupatwala in Haridwar under the aegis of Muslim Rashtriya Manch to be conducted under the guidance of the senior RSS ideologue Indresh Kumar, who is also the convener of Muslim Rashtriya Manch (MRM) aside from being a member of the RSS’s executive body. long festering issues like the construction of a Ram temple at the disputed site in Ayodhya, the practice of triple talak and formulation of uniform civil code are likely to figure during the seminar.
Addressing a press conference here on Monday, president of Adhyatmik Chetna Sangh, Acharya Karunesh Mishra said, “We are aghast to think that RSS is about to host a seminar involving Muslims in this celebrated centre of Hindu pilgrimage. This would just embolden the Muslims to turn more aggressive against the Hindu community people, exacerbating thus the communal divide.”
Those who are opposed to the move are Shri Brahmin Sabha,Uttarakhand Rajya Andolankari Manch, Rudra Sena and Yuva Teerth Purohit Mahasabha.
Dubbing the move as anti-Hindu, Shrikunj Khewaria from Teerth Purohit Mahasabha said, “We cannot support such anti-Hindu events to be held in the holy city. RSS and its political offshoot BJP would suffer consequences for such ill-conceived move.”
