Hospitals bear brunt of UPNl workers' stir

PNS

The major hospitals of the State where large number of UPNl workers are deployed bore maximum brunt of the work boycott call given by the UPNl workers association on Monday.

In the associated hospital of the Government Doon Medical College (GDMC) many patients returned home after they saw notices of strike pasted by contractual workers at the registration counters.

The hospital administration had asked the doctors to examine patients without the requisite registration slip and many doctors were seen writing their advice on plain paper.

The hospital managed work with the remaining staff.  The emergency and the IPD services were, however, unaffected as the association had decided to keep these essential service away from the ambit of strike. The association has threatened closure of essential services too from June 30.
