PNS

The patients visiting the Doon Women’s hospital were surprised to see the doctors operating from small cubicles of the makeshift Out Patient Department (OPD) in the hospital campus on Tuesday.  The makeshift OPD is being necessitated to make space for the construction of proposed medical college. The existing OPDs of the hospital would be razed to make way for emergency ward of the proposed medical college and hospital.

The OPDs would function in the small makeshift building which is erected in the open space in front of the parking of the hospital. The makeshift OPD ward started functioning from Tuesday. less space in this temporary building caused problems to both patients and the hospital staff. Anita Sharma, a resident of Kargi Chowk, said that the new place is short in space would create problems to the patients.

One of the hospital staff too shared this view, he said that the roofs of the temporary building are too low which would make the place heated up in summers. The hospital data suggests that the 300-400 patients visit OPDs of the hospital daily. The Doon Women hospital caters a large number of patients from the Garhwal region and nearby districts of Uttar Pradesh and Himachal Pradesh.
