Uttarakhand Sikh Sangat staged a protest rally in Dehradun on Monday in the wake of the recent desecration of holy book Guru Granth Sahib at Kotkapura in Punjab.
Those associated with the outfit gathered near Gandhi Park from where they marched to the Collectorate. They served a memorandum addressed to the President through the State Government officials. They demanded prompt arrest of the offenders. They also demanded suspension of the Punjab Police officials who had opened fire on the protestors, killing two. They said the people were feeling insecure in Punjab.
Representatives of Gurudwaras, temples and various other communities participated in Monday’s peace march. The participants stressed on maintaining peace while bringing the offenders to book.
