The High Court division bench of acting Chief Justice Rajiv Sharma and justice Manoj Tiwari has directed the State to complete the pollprocess in municipal corporation Roorkee before December 31. Meanwhile, the single bench of justice Sudhanshu Dhulia refused to interfere in the case pertaining to elections for Bazpur and Srinagar municipalities, referring the related cases to the division bench.
According to the case details, the previous mayor of Roorkee, Yashpal Rana had filed a petition in the High Court seeking that elections in the municipal corporation of Roorkee be held along the polls in other urban local bodies of the State. Hearing the petition on Monday, the division bench headed by the acting Chief Justice Rajiv Sharma directed the State to complete the election process in the municipal corporation of Roorkee before December 31.
