Aimed at establishing one-to-one contact with some of the unsung heroes, who have made a difference in the society by their own enterprise — Himalayan Prerna Yatra-2013 will begin on Sunday.

The yatra would touch five different points, including Purakal village, Naugaon, lakhamandal, Banglow ki Kandi, Dhanaulti and Patanjali Food Park at Haridwar, in Himalayan region.

A team of around 100 member, which comprises from 18 States selected after screening and several rounds of interviews, will travel 1,000 km to visit five places in hilly areas. Board member Manoj Sharma is accompanying the youth in their odyssey. He said that entrepreneurship cannot be learnt in colleges and universities alone.

“We move around the hills and valleys to meet people and draw inspiration from those who have made some value addition to the society,” he said stressing that the objective of the yatra is to learn from the social entrepreneurs instead of following theories.

Chief architect of yatra, Ritesh Garg (29) an alumni of Banaras Hindu University (BHU) conceived the idea of taking youth to Himalayan Odyssey after conducting a visit of the mountains along with Sharma to study some of the unparallel success stories.

“We have few unsung heroes in the mountains, who are god on earth for the villagers but they have chosen to concentrate on their local society and we wanted the young leaders to understand their skills and expertise after visiting them,” he said. The yatra is being supported by Society for Inclusive development (SFID) and its key member Anil Jaggi.
