Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna has appealed to the people of Uttarakhand to contribute towards raising public awareness on AIDS control. In his message on the eve of World AIDS Day, the CM said that it is a deadly disease against which education and awareness are the best preventive measures. Public awareness is vital in the fight against this disease, he said.
The CM has stressed on the need for ensuring participation of all sections of society to ensure the desired level of awareness on AIDS in the urban and rural areas of all districts in Uttarakhand. Bahuguna directed Health Department officials to coordinate efforts with NGOs working in this field, educational institutions and other bodies to ensure that information about means for protection against AIDS reaches all the people.
