In view of increasing divorce cases in the last few years in Dehradun and other parts of the State, Hello Zindigi, a social and cultural organisation, is going to honour 11 couples who spent 50 years and more together in a Swarnim Dampatya Samman Samaroh, which will be held in DAV (PG) College campus on Sunday.
Cultural programmes will also be organised on the occasion, said association president Vineet Kumar Tyagi while interacting with media persons. Former Cabinet Minister Hira Singh Bisht will be the chief guest of the programme while social activist Subhash Sharma and Sanjay Baroni, actor, Balika Vadhu fame, as special guests.
“Such programme will help the newly married couples to live together,” he added. A total of 11 couples, who have completed 50 years or more, will be honoured. their names are Narendra Singh Pundir and his wife Maya Devi; Santoshi Prasad Mamgai and his wife Anguri Devi; Badri Naht Kohli and his wife Santoshi, Gyan Singh and his wife Pritam Kaur, Vinod Chandra Garg and his wife Sumitra Debvi, Bishan Bahadur and his wife Parvati Devi, Baldeep Singh and his wife Raj Dulari, Chatar Singh Raj and Savtri Devi and Mehar Singh Chauhan and his wife. Other present on the occasion were Dinesh Pratap and Phalkuni Amit Pokhriyal.
