Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre has forecast light to moderate rain/snow at many places in Garhwal region and at a few places in Kumaon region of Uttarakhand in the next 48 hours starting from Saturday evening. The Met office has warned about heavy rain/snow at isolated places in Uttarkashi (especially Bhagirathi valley) and Chamoli districts of Uttarakhand.
Hailstorm may occur at isolated places too. Moreover, snowfall (01 to 10 cm in depth) may occur at places with height between 2500 m and 3000 m. Snowfall (05 to 20 cm in depth) may occur at places with height more than 3000 m. Uttarakhand Meteorological Centre director Anand Sharma attributed this to western disturbances. Doon residents witnessed sunny day throughout the day but after evening descended clouds gathered. later, drizzling started.
In Dehradun, the maximum and minimum temperatures were recorded 26.0 degree Celsius and 8.8°degre Celsius respectively, on Saturday. The Met office has forecast generally cloudy sky and rain/thunder Shower at some areas in Dehradun on Sunday. The maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be around 21°C and 12°C respectively on Sunday in Dehradun. Hailstorm may occur at isolated places in the state on Sunday, it is learnt.
