The meteorological department has forecast heavy to very heavy rain for several districts of Uttarakhand like Pithoragarh, Uttarkashi, Dehradun, Tehri, Pauri, Nainital and Bageshwar during the next 24 hours. Besides, as per the forecast, the sky would remain generally to mostly cloudy on Sunday with possibility of moderate to heavy rain or thundershower in many places across the state.
In Dehradun, the climate would be the same on Sunday, with cloudy sky and possibility of heavy rain or thundershower in many places across the district.
The Dehradun administration is learnt to have geared up in view of the heavy to very heavy shower alert issued by the weather department. Mention worthy, the flood in Rispana on Wednesday had wreaked havoc in the city, resulting in casualties and collapse of buildings aside from snapping of electricity and prolonged power cuts in many areas and water-logging of many roads.
The residents of the city, particularly those living by the river side, are worried over the very heavy rain warning.
They hoped that the administration has taken adequate measures to spare them the rain-spawned ordeal if it rains as per the forecast. “We face the same ordeal every year.
What is needed is a permanent solution which seems a far cry in view of the laidback attitude of the administration,” said a resident of Dalanwala.
