Uttarakhand High Court (HC) has cancelled the appointment of Satyendra Prasad Mishra on the post of Vice Chancellor (VC) of Uttarakhand Ayurveda University located in Harrawala in Dehradun for providing wrong information to get the coveted post.

It is worth mentioning here that Mishra has already tendered his resignation from the position of VC over the issue of his being overage for the post came into limelight; however his resignation is yet to be accepted.

Incidentally Mishra is the first VC of the university.

On Thursday, a bench of Uttarakhand HC comprising of Chief Justice K M Joseph and Justice U C Dhyani while hearing a petition filed by Dehradun resident Neeraj Dhulia cancelled the appointment of Mishra.

In his petition Dhulia had questioned the appointment of Satyendra Prasad Mishra as VC on the fact of his being over age for the post at the time of appointment.

The petitioner has challenged the appointment of Mishra and had accused him of hiding his age while applying for the post of VC. The issue of age of the VC and his appointment has resulted in exchanges of official communication between the state Government and Rajbhawan. Before resigning from the position of VC, Mishra created stir recently when he wrote a letter to state Chief Minister Harish Rawat mentioning that he feels threat to his life from the registrar Mritunjay Mishra.

His tenure witnessed a bitter battle between him and registrar with the later registering a FIR requesting  police to investigate the case in which the VC failed to provide the required documents in the Neeraj Kumar Dhulia Vs Satyendra Prasad Mishra case.
