Even as senior Congress leaders discussed issues with party MlAs on Monday, the PCC president and former Chief Minister have welcomed the Supreme Court and High Court verdicts regarding nine turncoat MlAs of the Congress while expressing confidence about the scope for Congress to pass the floor test in the Assembly on Tuesday.

The PCC chief said that the Congress has complete faith in the constitution of India, its justice system and democracy. He said, “The Congress party welcomes and respects the verdicts given by the Uttarakhand High Court and the Supreme Court of India regarding the case of nine rebel Congress MlAs. While the Congress has full faith in the Indian constitution, the Vidhan Sabha and constitutional institutions of the nation, some selfish elements acting on the directions of the Bharatiya Janata Party have tainted the politics of Uttarakhand which the people will surely take cognisance of in the coming days because in a democratic system, the court of the public is the highest court. The BJP orchestrated conspiracies to destablise democratically elected State Governments in Odisha, Bihar and Delhi before attempting to carry out a similar conspiracy in Uttarakhand,” said the PCC chief.

Upadhyay further said, “The decision taken by the high court is a victory for democracy, Indian constitution and constitutional institutions. On the auspicious occasion of Akshay Tritiya, the decision taken by the Supreme Court regarding the nine rebel MlAs will set a major example in the history of democracy in India. The Congress will achieve victory in the floor test to be held in the Vidhan Sabha on May 10 and expose the fascist anti-democracy elements,” said the PCC chief.
