It was nothing short of a dream come true for Sweety Bajaj (43) from Haridwar who shared stage with and received award from a Bollywood star Karishma Kapoor during a contest held recently at Sirifort Auditorium in New Delhi. She won ‘India hair and beauty award’ (IHBA) season 2.
The make-up artists from across the country who had come to participate in the contest were asked to do make-up for the models. Their performances were judged by a jury comprising film world celebrities.
Sweety’s feat has led Haridwar to come out of its religious character while making its entry into the world of beauty and hair care.
While running a beauty parlour in the city, Sweety has come a long way in giving beauty tips to the young girls and giving beauty treatment to the elders. “I did courses from various institutes and attended workshops at Delhi too,” she said. “It is very important to keep oneself updated on the latest beauty techniques available in the market,” she added.
On the scope for young beauticians, Sweety said that these days beauty care has become more of a necessity than a luxury. “People say with an air of pride nowadays that they go to the parlour unlike earlier times when they used to go there under the pretext of visiting temples. It is a noble profession which anyone with good hand at drawing can take up,” said Sweety.
